Corporate Crime
Corporate Crime? I’m not sure there is no such thing. If we are given the crimes they want to reduce the label, you must stop the distribution of large fines for criminal enterprises. The idea is not as radical as it sounds.
First, when I say there is no such thing as white-collar crime, so I always promise to the people, for the crimes. In this sense we can imagine what my best way to reduce crime: Go to criminals!
Who pays for Corporate Crime?
Exactly who pays when a large company be punished for breaking the law? First, pay to shareholders. Many of them are innocent pensioners, who have money invested with the company and had no idea they were violating the law. Then workers will be paid with the loss of jobs as the company’s financial situation has been damaged by the fines. Those who do not pay? Only criminals – people who wanted to break the law.
All crimes are not of men, requires companies. If a company to dump poison into the environment, the decision of a person in this (or several people). If a company steals from a pension fund or violates the rights of workers, natural made those decisions. People who commit economic crimes, not companies!
If you want to stop economic crimes, begin the men involved in crime in prison. Our current system has many official estimates of cost / benefit if the proceeds of certain crimes are greater than what is sometimes a fine of up. Even if laws are broken, they have little chance of being personally responsible. Why not be held responsible?
Companies imposed a fine for the actual cost to others through a proper crime. We have to clean up toxic casinos and in other cases, to compensate for the damage. This also means that the shareholders of a reason to be cautious with the board to choose from. However, the “punishment” ridiculous fines if imposed on individual offenders. Take the person of the crime pay the fine.
Is this a radical idea? I think not! Indeed, what seems more of a manager of the company to commit an offense, a fine paid by the company, and even affect your salary or 10 years in prison to prevent? The answer to this gives us the answer to economic crime.
